Engineer to extend the reclamation up to Blackhead's Lots

I should have advocated the resumption of these lots at

the present time believing that if they are left in private

hands they will hamper extension in the future and will

eventually have to be purchased at a much higher price

than is now asked for them. For this reason also I am not

in favour of the proposal contained in paragraph 20 of the

Chief Resident Engineer's letter of February 15th. to

acquire only the inner parts of the Marine Lots.

I have now the honour to request

Your Lordship's approval to the proposals contained in

this Despatch, viz.:-

(1).

To extend the reclamation in Hung-

-hom Bay in a Southerly direction till it abuts on Kowloon

Marine Lot No. 81 at an addition not exceeding seven

hundred thousand dollars ($700,000) to the original

estimate of five hundred and eighty-five thousand dollars

($585,000) the section of wharf wall along the extension

being left to the Consulting Engineers for determination;

to resume Kowloon Marine Lota

Nos. 34 and 81 and Kowloon Inland Lot No. 210 at a cost
